Spider Solitaire
Two decks, ten columns, eight runs to build
About Spider Solitaire
Spider is the two-deck patience most people meet on a work computer. A hundred and four cards, ten columns, and eight sequences to build from king down to ace in a single suit. Every finished sequence lifts off the table by itself, and the game is won when the eighth one goes.
One suit, two suits or four, chosen above the board. The rules never change between them — what changes is how much of what you have built can still be picked up and carried, which is the whole game. One suit is a puzzle most deals come out of. Four is the version that beats people.
Your board is written to this device after every move, so a deal you started this morning is still there this afternoon. Undo steps back as far as you need, moves and minutes are counted while you play, and the board tells you when a deal has genuinely dead-ended rather than leaving you to wonder whether you misplayed it. Nothing is uploaded and no account is involved.
How to play Spider Solitaire
Build eight sequences, each running king down to ace in one suit. A finished sequence leaves the table on its own, and clearing all eight wins the game.
