Last updated 2026. This page explains, in plain English, what Deckchair Games stores and who else is involved.
You never need an account
Every game on this site can be played without signing in, and nothing asks you to sign in first. If you choose to, an account exists for one reason: carrying your progress between your phone and your computer.
What is stored on your device
Your high scores, game progress, daily-puzzle streak and theme preference are saved in your browser’s local storage. While you are not signed in, that data stays on the device, is not sent to us, and is not readable by anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes all of it.
What is stored if you sign in
Signing in is by a link sent to your email address, so your email address is held by our database provider to identify the account. Alongside it we keep the display name you choose, your game results, your daily-puzzle progress, and the head-to-head record between you and anyone you have added as a friend. Signing in merges what is already on this device with the account rather than replacing it.
Nobody can search for you by name. A friend is added by opening a link you sent them, and the record of games between two people is written by each side for itself and is not readable by the other. Deleting your account removes all of it; ask at the contact address below and it will be done.
Playing against other people
When you open or join a table, the game server holds the state of that game for as long as it is being played, along with the name shown on your seat. Your opponent sees that name and nothing else about you. There is no chat, nothing about a game is kept once the table closes, and the server never receives your email address.
Advertising
This site is free because it carries advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads and to measure how those ads perform. Depending on your consent choice and your location, those ads may be personalised based on your prior browsing, or non-personalised.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you are shown a consent dialog on your first visit and can change your answer at any time — the control at the end of the Analytics section reopens it. You can also review or opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s own ad settings.
Children
Sections of this site intended for children are marked as child-directed to Google. No account, chat or social feature exists in them, nothing in them counts page views, and any advert that ever appears there is non-personalised.
Analytics
Page views are counted here, and it is worth being exact about what that costs. Vercel Web Analytics sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not follow you between sites, so it asks you for nothing and runs for everybody.
Google Analytics is the second one, and it does set a cookie — _ga. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it stays switched off until you say yes in the consent dialog. Everywhere else it runs unless you switch it off with the control at the end of this section. Saying no changes nothing else: every game works exactly the same either way.
What either of them produces is aggregate: how many people opened a game, how many finished one, which page somebody arrived from. What is sent never carries your name, your account, or the code of a table you played at. It is never used to identify anybody.
Neither runs in the children’s section. Those pages count nothing, and no consent banner appears there either — there is nothing in there to consent to.
If you answered a consent dialog here (shown in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), you can reopen it and change your answer.
Google Analytics follows your consent answer. The switch here turns it off for this browser either way.
