Four, six or nine pieces, and your child picks which. Tap a piece, then tap the space it belongs in — or tap the space first and the piece second. Either order works and both are one tap each. Nothing is dragged, because a drag needs a press, a path and a release all landing where they were aimed, and a finger that slips halfway drops the piece somewhere it was never meant to go.
A piece only goes into its own space. Tapping the wrong space leaves the board exactly as it was: no counter, no red, nothing to undo, and no way to build a wrong picture in the first place. The empty spaces show the picture faintly underneath, the way the tray of a wooden toddler puzzle has it printed on — a difficulty dial your child holds rather than one set for them.
